How long have you been part of the L44 team?

I have been part of L44 since it was just a vision which we discussed with Eric Morrison and Tom Tremuth on a sunny afternoon in Yorkville two years ago.

What is your “day job”?

Since retiring from the corporate world, I have been involved extensively in arts organizations, as a board member and as a consultant in arts programming.

What is your background?

My specialty is leadership and organizational development. I completed my PhD at University of Toronto in 2002 in Education Theory and Policy Studies. I have held leadership positions and designed corporate education programs in both government and private sector in organizations as diverse as BMO, IBM, Pitney Bowes, and Baycrest Centre. In my most recent role I developed a “corporate university” for a chemical engineering company. This international program was designed to develop executives and mangers in Canada, U.S. and South America. I have also taught at University of Toronto in the Executive Education program at the Roman School of Management and as guest lecturer at York and Ryerson Universities.

What are you doing for L44?

At L44, I have been reaching out to sponsor organizations, fund raising and assisting with locating Canadian speakers. I am very excited to be moderating the panel on e-learning. In several of my corporate roles in large organizations, I had the responsibility of directing e-learning implementation.

What excites you about your work?

The L44 to vision showcases Estonian entrepreneurs and hopefully opens opportunities for an exchange of ideas and best practices between Canadian and Estonian technology. I am excited by the possibilities that this exchange can engender.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

My spare time has always been occupied with visual art, i.e. painting, running workshops, and organizing art shows. Music also continues to be important part of my life, Oobik choir for many years. And I have recently enrolled at UofT in Creative Writing courses. There is a memoir/ family saga in the works, and who knows what else after that.
