Roy Kao is a Fintech Advisor and until recently he was the Managing Director, MaRS Fintech, at the MaRS Discovery District, the largest innovation hub in North America with 1.5 million square feet located in the heart of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He possesses over 20 years of experience in various leadership roles in Fintech, management consultancy, and other entrepreneurial pursuits around the world.
Prior to joining MaRS, Roy was the founding Chief Technology Officer at Lendified, a groundbreaking small business lending Fintech platform, and was a co-founder of Alpha Insights, a data and analytics strategy consultancy for the Financial Services industry. Previously, Roy was CEO of Bentley & Co. Limited in New York and Shanghai and has held management and consulting positions at companies including Accenture, BCE Emergis, and CA Technologies.
Roy is natively fluent in Mandarin Chinese and graduated with an honours degree in Computer Science and Economics from the University of Toronto.
